Fun at Deerfield’s Fall Festival

Looking for a fun way to spend a lazy Sunday this fall? The annual Fall Festival, put on by the Deerfield Historical Society, is just around the corner on September 10th. The event includes food, musical entertainment, reenactments and plenty of activities for children. In addition, a Childrens Pioneer Costume Contest will be held during the events of the day. While the day is officially a fundraiser for the historical society, there will be plenty activities to participate in so that it will feel more like a party than a benefit event.

As summer begins to wind down, seasonal produce bursts with freshness. At the corner of Deerfield Road and Robert Yorke Avenue, Deerfield hosts a weekly farmer’s market every Saturday morning from now until October 14th from 7:00 a.m. -12:30 p.m.. The market features not only fruits and vegetables, but also fresh baked goods, flowers, syrups, honey, and cheeses from all over the area.

Supporting local farms and organizations not only benefits your community, but it could also benefit you. Shorter travel distance for the produce mean better freshness, there is little need for damaging preservation. Attending the Deerfield farmer’s market is an excellent way to take advantage of the late summer harvest while eating healthy.
